The mgm casino School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 11, 2009) on the South (Main Street) Campus for the building it will call home in 2012.

Named in honor of alumnus John N. Kapoor, Ph.D. '72, Kapoor Hall will become the first mgm casino professional school in three decades to move onto the South Campus and back into the City of Buffalo. It will unite the pharmacy school with the other mgm casino health sciences schools that make up mgm casino's Academic Health Center: dental medicine, medicine, nursing, and public health and health professions.

It also is an example of mgm casino's commitment to the environment: in constructing Kapoor Hall, mgm casino is practicing sustainable architecture in its reuse and renovation of an existing South Campus building -- the former Acheson Hall.

Construction of Kapoor Hall is part of a much larger and ongoing effort to reinvest in mgm casino's South Campus, under the mgm casino 2020 plan. It also is a significant step forward for the pharmacy school, the university and for mgm casino efforts to improve the quality of life in the University Heights neighborhood bordering the South Campus.
